Found a real BYCer in the wild!
He had two BYC bumper stickers.

Seriously you dont want to do anything. You can say you do all you want youre just kidding yourself. If you really want to do constructive stuff you would find a way. Sorry but it's true. About a resume' no one has to have a resume unless youre in a specialized field. Ordinarily people just fill out applications thats how you get hired.

That’s not true at all. I just spent like 2, 3 hours outside cleaning the entire coop. Scooping/shoveling all the shavings out and sweeping all the dirt/dust out out of the coop (it was really dusty/broken down for some reason, idk why), a lot of which I crawled in and wiped off/dug out by hand cause the broom wouldn’t go on all the little ledges and under/behind the little pieces of linoleum that had separated from the walls, etc. so I had to do it by hand and push it only the main floor so the broom could get to it. It was a real pain in the ass. I didn’t have to get every single little piece of dust/dirt but I wanted to. And then before filling it back up I also scraped all the roosts off by hand with a little scraper that didn’t work very well and some of the pieces were really stuck on. Didn’t have to scrape the roosts either but they hadn’t been done in a while so I figured I should do it while I was cleaning everything else. And I didn’t want to scrape poop onto clean shavings so I did it before refilling it. Spread PDZ down then the fresh shavings. Oh and speaking of which, I also emptied the nest boxes too which the angle is weird and makes it hard to get the shavings out/push them into the coop but I did. And I picked up like every little piece of shavings/dirt in there too which is pointless and unnecessary in a nest box but I wanted to. All while the girls were complaining outside because it was bedtime and they were locked out (so they wouldn’t escape). Speaking of which, I also emptied a bag of shavings in the run too (it had been sitting out a long time and got kind of wet and icky so didn’t want it in the coop) and I did it from the outside too, held it up over the top of the run and shook it in through then roof, which took forever and kinda hurt my shoulders. Now that part is stupid, I should have just walked in, but I didn’t want them to escape. I also put two shovelfuls of compost in there and one did escape when I did that. I do plenty when I get off the phone and spend forever taking my time and doing it right. In fact, some of you would probably say I’m too slow. But I like doing it right. Refilled the food, grit, and oyster shell too. Actually, the food I refilled earlier. I do plenty. The problem is putting the phone down first. Which, yes, I know is a problem. Oh and speaking of which, I also haven’t even eaten yet today except some chips and salsa because the chickens were hungry so I fed them first then stayed outside and did all the above mentioned work. They come first. As for the resume, I didn’t know that. I know you guys probably just think I was only saying that to make an excuse or as a reason for not doing it or something but I genuinely didn’t know that. My parents, brother, everyone I’ve ever met has told me I need one. Also my mother seems to think you can post your resume on Indeed.com and apply to a lot with like a few clicks or whatever which idk if it’s true but if so, then a resume would be necessary for that and for certain situations.

When grandkids come to visit EVERYONE puts their phones in a basket by the door. We actually enjoy visiting without someone checking their phones or social media or playing some game.

I play catch up on BYC because I don't carry my phone outside. It is in my purse. I check for phone for voice mail or attempted messages when I come back inside after my chores are done.
Every family member knows if it is an emergency call 911.
Or I will call back after a few hours.

I would and usually do gladly put my phone down when I’m with relatives but even so, not everyone else does. Some of them sit there glued to it. I don’t when I’m talking to people. I’m well aware it’s rude and yes, I like hanging out with/talking to people.

That’s probably what I should do but I’m not used to that and most people I know including my own family don’t do that. They’re all on it too much. I’m not saying that makes it right or anything and tomorrow I’m going to try not using it but I’m just saying.

I didn't have a resume until after my first full time job.

Funny story... I was at the mall with a friend and we were walking past Hallmark. I remarked to her that I thought it would be fun to work there. She said I should apply. I went in and asked for an application. The gal at the counter said they don't have any prepared applications but she dug a paper bag and a pen from behind the register and said I should write down my contact information in case something comes open. It was super awkward but I just smiled and rolled with it. We laughed and laughed about my "resume". But wouldn't you know, they called me when it got near the holidays and said there was a temporary opening with potential to become permanent. Someone was leaving the end of the year. I'd already found another job so I never did get to work at Hallmark.

But seriously, if I can get a job offer from writing on a paper bag...

Oh wow that’s awesome!

Too bad you couldn’t work there. :(

And I get what you’re saying but I’ve always been told I need a resume. If that’s wrong, fine. But I’m not saying it as an excuse not to.

You need extreme.

I guess so. But also... say I do follow the 6 hour thing, then what? I can just spend the next 6 hours on here? I’d rather work on trying to control myself with it and spending more time off it than on it than only going by some number. But I guess I could start with it. Idk.

I saved my skinny clothes and now that I can actually fit into them again I got rid of everything I owned that was too big for me because I refuse to ever be that size again.
It actually time to get rid of more clothes that are getting too big.

:celebrate:wee

I am going to need to do this soon too hah

Dude. You go to the store every flipping day.
Lmao. :smack

And the first step to overcoming an addiction..
admitting you have a problem.

I could easily go months without BYC or social media in general.
I don’t use it to mask responsibilities, I use it as a reward for completing responsibilities.
I don’t use it to drown out difficult emotions, I shut my phone down so I can process my feelings away from the internet’s influence.
I don’t spend all of my time thinking about what I’m going to post or chat about on here, I’m too busy with school and a marriage to think about that.

Surely you can see the difference here?

GET A FREAKING JOB! :he
What do you think we all do with our time?? Everyone here is a full time student, or working, or reaping the benefits of the life they’ve worked hard for with retirement.
I would go insane if I didn’t WORK.
Idle hands are the devil’s workshop!

Nahh, I haven’t been in a while until the past couple days haha and only cause I had to.

I would gladly spend days at home if I could.

But I meant clothes shopping and stuff. I like shopping for pet stuff or browsing but hate shopping for clothes, shoes, other necessary shit lol

I already know all that and am well aware it’s a problem. Have been for a while. But I need to actually seriously work on getting off it.

I guess so but I also don’t really think I do most of that stuff... but maybe I do. Idk. I definitely at least go on it instead of doing stuff which is an issue but not sure about the other ones.

quit feeding her addiction.... just sayin. This thread alone has been encouraging her behavior for hours/day.

That’s probably true.

But I’m going to put it down a while anyway so that won’t be necessary haha

Awesome!!

Did you honk and wave??

:lau she should have

Okay I am going to the feed store but I gotta say.... do you have pots and pans? Spatulas? Forks? PLATES? Books? A refrigerator!? A TV!? Chargers? Any lights at all!?

You have me intrigued now @honanbm :lau
I have a fully stocked kitchen. I cook A LOT. I don't have a lot of gadgets, but I have lots of pots and pans, all well used. I have tons of jars for canning. I do dishes while I'm cooking so that I don't have any left to clean after I eat, barring the plate I eat from.
I have a fridge like anyone else. I have electricity and lights. I'm not Amish. I don't hang out in my room. I sleep there. I see no reason to have additional lighting in a room I sleep in. I also see no reason to buy clothes when I have more than enough crap. I have clothes from high school that I still wear, and I'm 37. Turns out, clothes can last a long ass time if you don't care about trends. I could probably never buy clothes again and be just fine.
I tend not to keep most physical books around. I have some that I collect, and tree/bird/medicinal plant identification books, but otherwise not a lot.
I am also not a fan of having a whole lot on my walls. I have a couple things, but pretty minimal.
I have a tv and I love watching movies and such, but I haven't had cable in about 15 years.
All in all, I feel like I could be much more of a minimalist, and I think I'll get there eventually. Until then, my bathroom drawers are filled with bleach, developer, and various wild hair colors. I don't brush my hair, but you bet your ass that it's going to be a cool color.

Oh and I forgot to answer the last part. I’m going to. But I more meant in the meantime like until I get one. But I guess there’s plenty to do around here. Tomorrow I’m going to try not to be on here much.

As for school, I was in school until last year. And yes it’s bad I’ve wasted all this time since graduating but until pretty recently I was walking the dogs like 2, 3 times a week, and watching the neighbors dogs, and dog sitting some, so it filled a lot of time and sort of was a job ha, but they’ve been having me a lot less between when the house was being worked on, the wedding coming up (they’re paying for a lot of it), and her being home more and not having traveled in a while. But DB also actually said they’re also kind of doing it on purpose so I get a job. FSIL hasn’t said that but I do think it’s probably true. And they’ve also offered to help. So I’m going to find one. But I was waiting until after the wedding because there was/is so much going on. But I guess I could apply now and not do the interviews until afterwards.

You are not getting married.
There isn't a good enough reason to used their wedding as an excuse to put things off.
