➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I am willing to do it if necessary.... I am just hoping it won’t be. :flShe kinda hates me at the best of times and this is the worst of times. Even in her current condition she still fights being given her medications.

She did seem a tiny bit more alert today. She ate a bit of egg and crumbles and drank a bit. I also have been giving her a few cc s of water via syringe every time I give her one of her medicines. Hopefully she starts doing more on her own soon. I will try Sam’s slurry technique
Definitely shock and pain. :(
At least she’s fighting you! I’m always hesitant to tube feed when they’re in very bad shape. I feel the extra stress can do more harm than good if it’s not totally necessary.
I bet she will snap out of it soon. Good on you for having a vet available! :hugs

Elkman's birthday masterpiece. It's nice that you all sent cake, but this one clearly wins. Extra points for it featuring the actual moon from the ol monster day herself.
If I don't look like an evil Cheshire cat, I don't know what does.

That is too sweet. Old Elk is softer than he looks.

We need to make a baluttie calendar.
Conan's present can be the September picture.
Or maybe we can use it for October.

No he did not.:th
How awesome is this!

X2!!

@CarpCharacin
Have you seen this yet?
Coming October 15th.

Does this mean they’re watching you 24/7!?

I think I am going to cry baby.

Cry baby?

Ah, Bones. NO. This is terrible news. I'm so sorry. Dogs are the absolute worst predators out there. Any idea what dogs may be the culprit? Can we threaten them?

X2! Gotta threaten them dogs.

Why are you going to cry (baby)?

:lau my thoughts exactly

New phone coming out and from what it looks like you may not have to actually touch it to use it.
Carp had a Google phone like me.

No idea. Sometimes neighborhood dogs get loose but we also get strays (individuals or even groups) from farther afield just passing through. Or I could be wrong about it being dogs. Coyotes are another option. But definitely not a small carnivore based on the amount of structural damage to the run and coop, and the wounds on blossom.

Thanks Tes. I truly appreciate your insight.

We have a great vet clinic down the road that takes livestock and fowl plus cats and dogs. They are fantastic people and very thorough.

Blossom did better tonight! Ate some of the fortified slurry Sam recommended (Thanks Sam! You rock!) and some more egg. Drank a little water, put up an impressive resistance to her meds, then went to sleep in her crate. Baby steps.

I have been holding off posting in the hopes of better news, but I am losing hope by the day.

My flock is gone. Something (I can only assume dogs) tore open the run and damaged one of the coops on Saturday. 1 hen was dead when I found her, 1 hen was injured but alive. The other 7 (my rooster, the last hen, and all 5 pullets) are still missing. No other bodies have been found, but there are feathers from everyone strewn throughout the run. I am absolutely shattered.
I'm so sorry about your flock, hoping that a few of the other birds are still in the area and just hiding. :hugs
