➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Well guys, I think I have confirmation on what killed all my birds. A neighbor two doors down just lost her entire flock of 25. But this time she caught the culprits: a pair of German Shepards. They went into her run through a weak spot in the roof, slaughtered the birds, then couldn’t get out.

I didn’t consider entry from above amidst all the structural damage to my run walls. But the dogs might have been able to get into my run that way. The damage to the walls could have been them breaking out from inside afterwards. My poor birds never stood a chance :hit

She initially was just going to shoot them. But she decided to call animal control instead and I believe is also going after the owners for damages.

Edit: the dog owners live on our street.

Oh wow that’s amazing self control not just shooting them!! A lot of people would have just shot them. But probably best to maintain good relations if they live on your street. Hopefully they get damages and the people keep their dogs contained from now on. :fl

Are you able to jump on the damages thing too or not because you didn’t actually see the dogs doing it?

Ive never had any of my dogs on heartworm pills and they have always been negative. But they were and are inside dogs. Its crazy how people react when i tell them theyre not on preventative. They think my dogs will surely die of heartworms. I can see the shock on theyre faces lol

Yeah, I think that’s kinda always been my dads philosophy too, never had a dog with it and never been on preventative. He only put Gator on preventative briefly like maybe 4, 5 years when I was reading a lot/learning about it and made him haha but then he stopped. Cat has never been on it. I feel like up here it’s really not necessary or even possible for it to develop most of the year. But I am going to put the cat on it in the summer at least. Or keep her inside.

I'm so sorry.
I'm getting seriously tired of people and their uncontrolled bratty dogs. Leash laws should be stricter and enforced with a .22. My chickens are worth far more than their pampered mutts. I keep them on my property, so they should not be accosted by dogs that should be on their OWN properties.
