I'm so sorry.
I'm getting seriously tired of people and their uncontrolled bratty dogs. Leash laws should be stricter and enforced with a .22. My chickens are worth far more than their pampered mutts. I keep them on my property, so they should not be accosted by dogs that should be on their OWN properties.
Thanks
And I wholeheartedly agree. My birds were pets, so I consider them priceless. But the birds killed today were black ameraucanas. They will not be easy to replace.

Dogs don’t generally kill birds out of hunger. They do it out of instinct. Prey drive. Unless very well trained and accustomed to being around poultry, most dogs will kill chickens if given half a chance. Mine would have but we made sure she never got the opportunity. It is on the owner for failing to properly contain two powerful dogs in a rural neighborhood.Kinda sucks the owners don’t care enough about their dogs to want to pay to keep them but at the same time, I’m glad they won’t be returning and I’m glad they can maybe now be adopted out to somebody who actually cares about them. For this reason, I’m also glad your neighbor did not just shoot them since clearly they weren’t being taken care of so it wasn’t really their fault. Maybe now they’ll go to good owners.I do wonder though... was the previous owner even feeding them? Seems odd they’d kill so many bird so many times.
Our dogs are all inside dogs as well...Ive never had any of my dogs on heartworm pills and they have always been negative. But they were and are inside dogs. Its crazy how people react when i tell them theyre not on preventative. They think my dogs will surely die of heartworms. I can see the shock on theyre faces lol
