➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

That’s awesome!!! Bet it’ll be cute whatever it is. How are your eggs doing? You set ones from your flock too, right?

I candled last night and most of mine are dead :hit
Yeah I have 12 still. I have only 2 from the local farm, the other 10 are from mine. They should be Cochin/BJG, RSL/BJG, Delaware/BJG...

I'm hoping the Cochins hatch because I would love to add some more to my flock, they are very big so my roosters don't have issues mating with them.

And this is the second time I've dreamed about zombies this week :gigWe didn't even even watch Walking Dead last night, we usually watch it on Mondays because we watch it on the DVR.

Nice!!! I hope they hatch!! :fl

Mine there’s a lot of blood rings, early quitters, and clears :hit

And OMG :lau

And yeah my dad usually does that too! Or used to. Idk. Lately he’s been watching it live haha. But he prefers watching the recording because TWD has sooooo many ads haha

Wow those or gorgeous! Are they Blue Slate?

If they aren't I'm sorry because I know nothing really about turkeys! The only thing I know is what I've learned on here, but I'm planning on getting broad breasted turkeys in the spring.
They are Blue Slate. The one on the left is a tom and the one on the right is a hen.

I miss seeing wild turkeys in NH. We had about 20 that lived in our backyard. I really haven't seen any turkeys in Virginia, they live here but I've never seen them.

I wanted to get turkeys just for lawn candy, but I'll have to wait because I'm afraid they'll fly over the fence and wander to the neighbor's yard...

To aid in keeping turkeys within a fenced area, do not put a top bar or rail on the fence. They will view it as a desirable perch. Almost all of the time when perched there, they will get down on the wrong side of the fence.

I use an 8 ft deer fencing, it's not to keep predators out, it's to keep the neighbor's dogs out. Their dogs keep the predators away for me, but I didn't want them chasing my flock. It's worked so far for me. I have a duck and chicken (muscovy & bantam polish) that can fly over it, but it keeps everyone else in.

While turkeys can easily fly over an 8' fence, they are more likely to pace back and forth beside it. As long as there are no enticing tree branches close to the fence it should keep them in.

What they sell as deer fencing here would not keep a dog out since they could easily rip right through it.
