Oh my.

I like it better this way. Previously I had cut the side off of the end section of my left index finger with a pocket knife. They cut a piece of skin off of the bottom of my forearm and grafted it to the finger. It was always cracking and bleeding especially when it was cold out. Now it is one less fingernail to keep trimmed.

I definitely don't like using box cutters for, say, piecing a bird. I use fish knives for that.

How long are the fish knives? I tried the 8" ones and didn't like them. The 4" blade allowed me better control.

The 8" knives are great for deboning large game and carving roasts. The stainless is hard to keep sharp though. I should get rid of these and try better steel. The Wust-hof carving knife worked great. The box store fillet knife wouldn't stay sharp.

I've gotten 2 Wust-hof and 3 Henckel knives from Goodwill of all places. I like them a lot. And a set of Chicago Cutlery that replaced the free set of Transmontina that also wouldn't hold an edge to my liking. The Chicago is a step up, but don't match the Wust-hof.

I said the same thing... 3 years later I have a puppy

We're at the stage where we're preparing for the end. If our son wants an LGD, he'll be the one to pick because it'll be his dog. (He's already stated he'd only get another Pyr)

Most pets we've had in the last 10-20 years have been strays and older pets. The Pyrenees we have was picked as a puppy a decade ago for the purpose of guarding our sheep. The collie and our son's cat were strays; we found the owners of our collie...they gave him to us because they were moving. The 5 kittens I took in this summer at 4 days old and bottle-fed were from a lady who's female went missing. The kittens are wonderful but I MUCH prefer our last barn kitty who's just moved back in the house for winter. She's going to be 18, she lays on her towel and purrs most of the time. At most, she'll come to visit and lay and purr where we're sitting.

Totally understandable!! Puppies are definitely a lot of work!! But for me it’s tons of fun and I continue to do tons of training even into adulthood.

So for me it’s not much different except that they eat stuff and potty inside lol

Everyone loves puppies. We prefer taking in the older animals where things have changed for people and they want good homes for their pets. We've taken in several rabbits and some older cats and given them a lovely final home. All of our animals are outside, except for older animals in winter.

I have so many animals that we have rescued, it just makes me feel good on the inside knowing that they aren't sitting in a kennel waiting for their forever home. Some animals don't even get that chance to have a forever home.

When we adopted our beagle she was 3 years old and she was an outdoor dog. The day we brought her home we put up our Christmas tree and she stared at the Christmas lights all night long. She was so amazed by them. It made me cry like a baby.
