Those look yummy! I am making some today, only I don't use a ham hock or anything. I use smoked turkey wing instead. I think I am going to try and make them in my instant pot and see how they turn out.

I put my dried beans or peas or whatever the heck they are in my instapot for 15 minutes then I moved everything to my new red pot.

happy anniversary! and i used to think we didn’t go out cuz i was getting to be anold fuddyduddy, but after dh dodging 3 drunk drivers before 7pm, i decided it has nothing to do with age, but with safety!!!

Thank you and yes, road safety was definitely on our mind and one of the factors of why we didn't want to be out so late.

DH said this is first time in his whole life he’s ever heard of anything on NYE....(it was on fox news today too). i never knew about it until we met/married 25 years ago, but his entire life, it’s been NYD to eat hog jowl and blackeye peas on NYD

I always thought of it as a New Years Day thing as well. I haven't exactly made it a "tradition" to make but my hubby's Nana.... She always made it New Years Day. She was a traditional southerner through and through and quite superstitious lol.

We had a really nice meal at dinner. I discovered that I like a vegetable. You think Kdogg is quirky with her eating but I am a bad picky eater. I found out that I really enjoy french style fresh green beans. I never knew LOL. Then we came home and played games (dice and card) with our son until midnight. I actually stayed awake (barely). Then I crashed. Was a fun evening.

My beagle will flip if fireworks start

My dogs HATE fireworks. My poor Buster, he's so traumatized from them that he's developed anxiety so bad, that now the mere sound of RAIN, makes him go and hide. Usually under my computer desk... with me. And it is a small area. And he is not. He does not care.
