umm I go to town and get bagged leaves on garbage day, if it's been dry. The leaves I collect with the mower bagger have grass with them and will mold. I use those right away.
My cousin sweeps her cut dry grass and I go over with my truck and fill the 8'bed and bag it when i get home. If it's good and dry... sometimes it's not quit dry and I use that right away. The chickens stir it up so it doesn't mold

I leave all my cuttings and leaves in place since I live on a sand dune and all of it needs every bit of organic matter it can get.

For a while a buddy that did landscaping was bringing me leaves and grass clippings I was composting... that was a bit of a chore. The bins I had were 4 pallets square. One for leaves, one for grass and 3 for various stages of compost. He retired the same time I did, so no more dump truck loads.

I would water it as I built a pile and when I turned it into a new bin... The last 2 years I would not have had to do that, probably would have been a slimy mess with all the rain I have had

Chickens and ducks have huge leaf piles to spread all over the lawn! It'll help it grow too when spring actually arrives. We will have nice green grass like usual

Pastor asked everyone to start writing sermon notes so just left Walmart after buying notebooks and gel pens

When we get home we are raking leaves for the chickens run. They can make their own mulch

We got some huge piles in the run and moved some of the sticks so the chickens could get the bugs that were underneath them. I'd say they're happy chickens right now
