➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

@RUNuts did you order your Moringa seeds? Did you cut them back?
I sprouted some and they are 5 feet tall and spindly. I'm going to cut them back by 1/3 and might braid the trunks...depends on how flexible they are....
Bought them as twigs from locals. First one languished this summer. Wasn't dead and didn't put leaves out. I pruned it and tried to root them (failed) and main stem started shooting leaves out. Really confused me because I was about to rip it up. So yes, I cut it back hard and it thrived.

They are pretty flexible. This was also the one the dog used as a chew toy last fall. Its had a rough life. Still alive, so I have hope. Was eating the leaves in the morning and chewing them as I did chicken chores. Dog liked them also.

Second one is still a twig. Bought last fall. Waiting for thaw to plant.

In winter, I use the toothpicks stabbed into the side of the seed and suspend the seed in a cup of water, or set it in 1/2 inch water in a container in the window. In spring and summer, I put the seed 2 inches deep in a mixture of potting soil and compost in a pot. Set pot in a tray and keep sponge moist.

Pull that seed out of the trash! You have a root tip!
Use either rubbing alcohol or bleach wate or vinegar to kill that mold. Put that seed in soil at least 2 inches deep and keep sponge moist. In your temperate zone, you should see a sprout quicker than I will. My pots are in my hot tub room sitting in a tray.
Let me go dig in the trash.

Looks like this one may have a thin root...if so carefully keep it attached and go ahead and pot it up. Remember to place it spoon side down. The seedling root pushes the seed up thru the soil and the rounded side splits open for the sprout.

Looks like you will soon have two Mango trees if you rescue that first seed.
I'm going dumpster diving now.

I don't understand how the dog is not going to rot and smell something awful for a whole semester.
How do y'all store it?
oh the memories.....cadaver lab was how i figured out I was expecting my youngest!! i suddenly started getting nauseous every time i had to go near that room!!! 🤢

We're going to have to change her name to little Gina.🤦🏼‍♂️
Reminds me of my first year as an elementary assistant principal....
Had a meeting with a young mother whose daughter was Merry V. I was helping her mother fill out some lunch forms.
I politely asked what Merry's middle name was...thinking my GMs name was Viola.
Her proud response was "Vagina." Then she said "I heard that word at the hospital the day she was born. Merry was born near Christmas. Doesn't it have a nice flow?"
I controlled my smile and responded "Why, yes it does". Fortunately, I did not have to spell out that middle name.

There are two plants in this pot and I have 6 more.View attachment 2004001
Is the plant on the window fuzzy? Like a Cuban oregano?

I caught 2 pullets drink eating an egg that some idiot laid on the ground out in the yard!!! I hope they don't start that crap, they'll end up swimming with dumplings if they're not careful!!!
I regularly toss eggs out for my flock...found clutches in the barn...I don't want to incubate...even the early quitters if I don't scramble them for the flock.

I throw mine in the chicken yard, when they start trying to open, shove them into a planter. Looks like the freeze last November got mine, though. We are leafless. See if they come back. The satsuma isn't looking so hot either although the moringa is doing well. The bananas are trying to come back, but the climate keeps changing.

You may have to move south. Stop when you get to the big water.
my Avacado starters last year got chilled before I moved the tropicals to the hot tub room. Lost leaves but have leaf nodes swelling now.

From what I have read on Moringas, big trees were trained by viscious pruning to make the leaves easier to harvest.
