➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

When I used incubators I pulled Them as they hatched still all wet and they went into the brooder under the lamp so they could fluff up. No problem
I do the same. They don't sit in the incubator more than 10 minutes and I move them Uber the heat plate. That heat plate is truly one of my favorite things now. I don't know what I did without one. No more chicks partying at all hours.

I haven't had a broody yet. I think Cochins are a broody breed, but most of my other chickens are chick terrorists 😂 they don't know how to act. Squatch would be a better broody than most of my pullets and hens😂
Two of my 3 cochins and my one speckled Sussex were all good broodies. Even if their timing was sometimes poor lol. Hope you get one this year. Watching a broody and her chicks is a highlight of chicken keeping (even though I have only done it once so far).

I have used my incubator to get chicks so far but I definitely want to try to let a broody do her job.

I think incubating is nice because it is easy to check the eggs and even assist if necessary. But watching a broody teach the babies? :love:love:love
My chickens took care of the chicks when they were about 3 weeks old. Mostly squatch. He would feed them and showed them how to use the water cups. He's a pretty good boy!

If I tried to squat right now I think I'd end up on the floor and not get back up 😂

:lau I worked out yesterday and swear I almost died my heart was going so fast. :lau

I've gotten myself lost in this thread.
🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

:lau whoops!

Wilma is dumb!

Awww so cute!!!

You did them all on your own. I merely suggested you do them. I've been adding weights in lately --- jump squats while holding weights is extra killer!

:lau there was definitely some peer pressuring going on!!

And oh wow!!! That sounds insane! Lol

It hurt my head 😂

:lau

It sure is special. Especially if you've got the combo (great broody, even better mama).
