My dog absolutely adores toddlers. While she won't steal food from them..... unless told, food that hits the ground is fair game.

I had serious concerns about ex's elderly cocker when DS was tiny. At almost 11, Duffy had never been exposed to children, and while cockers generally have a very sweet disposition, they do not usually have a stable one, and kids can be an issue. I needn't have worried. Duffy simply took on the role of Noble Protector ... DS in a bouncy seat on the floor, dog walking slowly by ... plod ... plod ... plod ... LICK ... plod ... plod ... plod. He learned the mechanics of highchairs very quickly, too. At mealtimes, our totally deaf dog would "assume the position" under DS' tray ... nothing ever bounced more than once and the "five second rule" simply did not exist. It was 2.5, tops!

Crazy Dog eats fakers. If I hadn't been right next to her when she jumped him, my little dog would be dead. He's too small and too old to survive that kind of rough-housing.
