@room onthebroom check out the bananas! They sprang back after the freeze.

Bananas can be almost as hardy as bamboo, especially if you are trying to get rid of them.
I've been told that. These are producing delicious, homegrown bananas that taste a whole lot better than the store bought yuck. Can't go back. Can't move north. The pallets are the compost piles. Apparently they are heavy feeders and love chicken bedding compost.

When the bananas were 6" tall, the chickens were murdering the leaves. Banana leaf appears to be highly desirable. Still tastes like latex to me. The banana flower nectar is delicious though.

A lot of people have banana trees around here but very few produce bananas. We had one on the side of the house that grew a huge stalk the year before Katrina. I saved some shoots but they died before I could get them transplanted. 🥴

Yep. turns out they need a lot of food to produce fruit and the compost pile is it. And the chicken crap. I was looking at the banana pits that people build. It's just a flush to the ground compost pile, so I planted the bananas next to the compost. Seems to work.

Homegrown bananas are very tasty! I had to make banana bread with the frozen ones and now we are out. I hope these flower this year, but I kinda doubt it. We had 3 stalks hanging when the freeze hit.

I love mussels also, sadly they are not easy to find here. I guess because of all the other seafood close by. We do have a place called Lola's, That we love and everyone we have entertained there has loved it as well. They have a seafood paella with mussels that is to die for. (Hayden always gives me his share of mussels :love )
I hope y'all enjoy your night. Sounds great Mr. Muddy, great food, swimming pool, and your drink of choice. Should we take bets on how long your bathing suit stays on once you are both in the pool? :lau:lol:
