I have some fingerless gloves that help or I have my good, soft leather gloves that would get ruined working with the birds. I will have some better ones for next winter.

Just get a cheap pair of jersey gloves.
That's what I plan on. Right now things are too tight for me to buy anything at all if I'm going to keep up on my bills.
