we ran our errands and mr muddy sanded the repairs and is finishing the caulk......i have everything set up to paint the door. and trim.

That looks like a bolete. Most are safe to eat. With a few exceptions. They are not that tasty.

to fully id it, we need to see the underside. It should look sponge like. Color should be yellow, white or pink.

Then break a chunk off and see what color it bruises to.

I can’t tell for sure which variety of bolete it is from that photo.

DW is on a neighborhood site which had an interesting post.
The poster has a Ring doorbell and was out of town for the freeze. A neighbor saw a problem and when they were not answering the door, he typed a message into his phone and held it up to the camera. It said 'Your pipe has burst".
