⭐ Kiki's Year Long 🌶️

Nice! We always used shaving for our piggies too. My brother’s kids use a washable fleece liner though. Apparently they saw it on Pinterest first?

Tried using pine shavings for Niven, but they always ended up getting all over the floor and stuck to my socks. Now I use paper in her crate and pine pellet for her litter boxes.
ds2 used the fleeces.....he wants to buy more.....the guinea pigs love them but i don’t consider them easily washable. i have them on a mix of fleeces and pine shavings currently since they’ve been outside. and also on gravel. they did use the one tray pretty reliably as a litter box when they were more confined. but lately they’ve been using the one hideaway i had for my button quail 😩

Can I bathe them like this?

They really only need baths if they are filthy, which would mean their cage is filthy. Guinea pigs are typically quite clean animals, but when you have multiple they produce a lot of waste and will pee everywhere. Regular cleaning will take care of this but it's a lot of work a big responsibility.

If they do need a bath you'll need soap that's made for them and they shouldn't be bathed often or their skin will get dried out. Baths can also be stressful for them.
