Chicken feet are definitely sturdier and stronger than quail feet. My chicks are about the same size as my quail now (a bit bigger, actually), and their feet are huge in comparison!
One of the local feed stores is offering five free pullets with a 40 or 50 pound bag of feed. One of my tenants wants his own chickens, so we're going to go get him some. I did tell him this morning that he needs to make sure they have housing before he gets them. If they need brooder space I'll be happy to provide that but they'll need permanent housing. The run that I put together in my greenhouse is big enough for three, but not eight,.
