Simeon suddenly grabbed her arm, and pulled her back into the mass of clothing racks. He whispered "A C.M.I. officer just came in, and he knows you and I."

Brooklyn yelped in surprise as she was pulled into the clothing. She nodded her head silenty, afraid that she would speak too loudly, and peeked through the clothing to watch the officer with fearfully round blue eyes.

Simeon stood up and whispered "Follow me." He moved for the store's back door, which led into the large inventory, when the CMI officer spotted them. He broke into a dash after them. Simeon scowled and went in the back with Brooklyn.

Brooklyn followed closely to Simeon, rushing as she felt them being spotted. She moaned as the movement made her side ache with tremendous pain.

Simeon saw her pain, and shook his head at what he had done. He whispered "Go hide. I'll take care of the agent. You shouldn't be running right now."

"No." Brooklyn argued in genuine concern for him, despite the pain she was experiencing. "You'll get hurt."

Artemis mentally wrote down Jaxson's order along with those of the crowd. "No." She answered more rashly than she had meant. She then momentarily closed her eyes in regret, answering the way she did only raised the suspicions that they had in fact met before. "No," she answered again more quietly before leaving to the kitchen.
Jaxson wasn't convinced but he left it at that. While he waited for his coffee, he took a seat near the counter and watched everything with interest. He felt better after the quick conversation with Amy, and knowing that she was in a good location made him feel more at peace with everything that had happened. At least she hadn't run off like her sister. He checked his watch then, and, realizing how long he had been here, stood to leave. The coffee may just have to wait.

Artemis returned from the kitchen with a fresh cup of coffee in a to-go cup. "Here you go." She said quietly, sliding the cup across the counter towards Jaxson. She laid the receipt on the counter, and turned to go care for the other customers.
