Vanessa stopped and stared, confusedly, at a girl in a floppy hat a few feet away who she was sure had been looking at her. She couldn't place the face, but the outfit triggered a memory in her head and she sighed in realization. Amy. The person reminded her of Amy, which was logical since she had just been thinking of the girl. Brushing away the idea that it was her, Vanessa continued towards her destination but kept an eye on the hat as she walked. Surely it wasn't Amy, who she thought lived on the other side of the city, the outskirts.
Simeon choked out "I'm so sorry I got you in this mess." Shame shone from his face."No," Brooklyn answered quickly, "it's not safe, not yet. We have to get farther away." She reasoned further.
Vanessa entered the store upon arrival, but not before glancing over her shoulder to see if the girl was still in sight.Artemis kept herself from giving in to the longing of turning see if Vanessa was following her, but when she felt the intense feeling of being watched fade she slowed her suddenly quickened pace, before giving in to look back and see Vanessa's attention was directed elsewhere. Sighing in relief, she decided to return to Amy's apartment.

Jaxson, noticing the silence from the kitchen, went in to check on Vanessa. Her purse was gone from the wall hook, so he took that to mean she had gone out. There wasn't much to do in the recipe without her so he went to the couch to wait and think. One thing heavy on his mind was yesterday's ordeal. Had Artemis escaped, and was she somewhere safe, he wondered.
Simeon choked out "I'm so sorry I got you in this mess." Shame shone from his face.
Amy, absorbed in her book finally, hesitantly put it down to answer the door. It was likely Artemis, but just to be safe, she got up to open it rather than just calling "come in".Artemis quietly opened the door to the coffeeshop, and locked it behind her. She used what little light remained from the day to find her way up the stairs. She then knocked on the apartment door and waited to be let in.

Simeon replied "You should leave me when we get out of town. I'm too much trouble, I don't want you hurt.""It's ok." Brooklyn reassured him. "The war drives people to do things we never would, I understand."
Artemis stepped inside as Amy allowed her to come in. "Fine." She smiled softly, deciding not to tell her that she had seen Vanessa. Perhaps the less she knew, the less danger she was subjecting her to.Amy, absorbed in her book finally, hesitantly put it down to answer the door. "Everything good?" She asked when she saw Artemis.
Brooklyn simply rolled her eyes. "We're in this together, and thats the way it should be. I'll be in more danger if I am left alone." She reasoned, thinking of how he had defended her.Simeon replied "You should leave me when we get out of town. I'm too much trouble, I don't want you hurt."
