Artemis stepped inside as Amy allowed her to come in. "Fine." She smiled softly, deciding not to tell her that she had seen Vanessa. Perhaps the less she knew, the less danger she was subjecting her to.
"Good. Did you enjoy your outing?" Amy asked, eager to hear how it went.

Brooklyn simply rolled her eyes. "We're in this together, and thats the way it should be. I'll be in more danger if I am left alone." She reasoned, thinking of how he had defended her.
Simeon said quietly "If you want." He secretly wished for nothing less of what she had said. He looked up at the road, no idea of where they were, as a small motel appeared in the distance.

"Yes, I enjoyed the fresh air, and simply being out." She replied honestly with a look of excitement.
Amy nodded as she listened. Her guest looked happier for the outing, for which she was glad. "I'm very glad to hear that it was so enjoyable," she said honestly. Closing the door, she returned to the couch. "If you're hungry, there's half a pizza on the counter," she said, pointing towards the kitchenette.

"What should we do?" Brooklyn asked, seeing that he too had noticed the motel ahead.

"I am, actually." Artemis smiled shyly. She went to the kitchen to take a single piece of pizza, but soon returned for several more slices. She hadn't wanted to admit it, but she had been hungry ever since she was imprisoned. Artemis didn't want to eat Amy out of house and home, but her desperation soon overcome what was logical.

Since Artemis was eating, and therefore, not likely to want to talk, Amy returned to her book to finish her chapter.
-----------
Vanessa returned soon to the apartment and Jaxson, who had been waiting, came to the door when she arrived.
"Last minute shopping?" He asked, a boyish grin on his face. Vanessa wasn't one to do last minute anything, so he liked to humor her whenever she did.
Vanessa handed him the bag of groceries and went to the kitchen to wash her hands. "We were out of onions, though I could've sworn I bought some earlier this week," she explained. After she had dried her hands she set to work pulling out the necessary ingredients and dishes for their meal. "I think I saw Amy on my way to the store," she commented offhandedly.
"Oh?" Jaxson looked disinterested as he looked over the recipe yet he held his breath as he waited for her to continue.
But she didn't. Instead, she not so subtly switched the subject to the atrocious price of milk, something he wasn't the least bit interested in.

Artemis went to the bathroom to prepare for going to bed. She found a matching pajama outfit to change into, and returned to the couch to begin settling down. "What are you reading about?" Artemis asked in attempt of being friendly.
