I've never had a pet chicken before, and am interested in getting some. What hatchery websites do you prefer, and what breeds are best? I don't have much space for my chickens, so I thought bantams would be a good choice. Silkies, d'Uccles, bantam Sultans, and Cochins were on my list for now. I also thought about adding a Buff Orpington or two to the bunch. Tell me what you think? Detailed explanations and pictures are preferred, but it doesn't really matter :)

D'uccles and Silkies are great!! I highly recommend D'uccles though. Beautiful, friendly, small, and very good layers for their size.

ETA: I love Ideal Poultry. They have a great selection of bantams!

If you could find Bantam Barred Rocks or Faverolles that would be good! I've heard good things about D'uccles as well!

I looked up Idealpoultry, and they do have a really wide variety of bantams and other poultry too! Would you recommend Meyerhatchery for ducklings, though? I don't know which to get, but I'm leaning more towards chickens since I only want hens, and hens are quieter.

If you're looking for pets, Silkies are the way to go. I love mine! But, don't rule out Cochins or Polish either! They're also very unique and friendly (and you can usually get them both frizzled- fun)! I miss my Cochins so much I'm on the hunt for a few frizzled girls to add into my Silkie flock ;)
