Soooo my appleyard duck decided that since she’s on house arrest while her foot finishes healing up, she’s darn well going to set on some eggs. So I guess if she sticks with it I’ll definitely be joining in here. 😅 thankfully she stopped at 3 (I’m sure she thinks she has 4 as she still has that lip gloss container in there) and has settled in. Haha. It’s her first time though so we’ll see if she actually carries through. I did have to take her out yesterday and make sure she got in the water for a couple minutes because she was looking pretty darn raggedy. She spent a couple minutes splashing around and then came running back over to me screaming at the top of her lungs to go back inside. 🤣

one of the eggs under Eve broke yesterday; I happened to see her carrying an egg out and away from the coop, so went to investigate. I cleaned out the spillage in the nest (albumen only) and wiped it off the remaining 3 eggs best I could (all 3 had a little contamination unfortunately), and sprinkled some DE about to try to absorb any remaining moisture and deter insects from the site. She ate the egg and shell, then cleaned herself up, and then went back to the nest.

I guess when eggs apparently disappear from a nest, this or something like it is what happened, unseen.

My Telly duck is still faithfully sitting, Ive been bringing her out for a swim each day (without the boys!) and she waits to let that nasty broody poo out until she’s in the pool. xD then when she’s ready she comes over to the nest box and hops right in through the hatch. :p candled her eggs, 3 all around the same stage of development and then she snuck another one in there. I took that one out, it’s almost a week behind the others at this point. And I really don’t need more ducklings. Haha. On a side note, her foot is looking awesome too. :)

I saw an egg in the coop today that I think either belongs to our SLW or our Salmon Favorolle and since they're older and don't lay reliably I decided to incubate it in hopes of getting pure Salmon Favorolle or a SLW x Salmon Favorolle. I think I mentioned it before but the rooster is a little older too so I'm not even sure he's very fertile anymore.
Also tracking says that the eggs I ordered are due to be here Thursday so I'm hopeful they make it here safely and undamaged.
