Mine has feather close to her body, so she looks really small. She is about 28 weeks old, and she takes up about half of the 12"x12" nest box when she was on the eggs.

I ask because I have an OEGB pullet that I’m hoping will incubate some eggs for me next year. I have no idea how many eggs she can cover though. She looks to be similar in size to yours.

It also depends, there could be problems, like the hen actually going broody, and them being dedicated and not leaving the nest for too long, This is my first "big" hatch, as I had a 4 yr old Speckled Sussex hen that hatched, but we messed everything up there, she hatched one chick, and we did not know how to reintroduce him, so we thought that she did not want him, so I am going to take my new knowledge and do it properly.

Thank you I hope so too! We had some minor problems that I thought would prolong the hatch day a few days later but lo and behold we had a external pip yesterday!

Well I have my one eggy set to hatch on the 10th.... wowsa. Nobody around here has chicks hatching then so I guess I am investing in birdy mirrors and a snuggly toy. (I'm also in middle of no where so I really don't have many options)

My package of eggs that was supposed to be here on Friday finally showed up today! It was stuck in Roanoke VA for 4 days. Corner of the box was crumpled in....so I was worried. Luckily, no cracked ones and the air cells look pretty good for shipped eggs (all but 3 detached ones). My friend Donna is so sweet! These were the 6 Pyncheon and 12 Blue Bresse eggs I ordered from her. She included 2-3 extra of both of them and then threw in some Duckwing Phoenix bantam and a dozen Cortinix Quail eggs.

So......

@FortCluck and any one else who raises quail, any tips on incubating quail eggs?? What do you feed them once hatched and when they are full grown? Any special needs for the quail once they are grown (oyster shell, special housing for winter, etc)? I need a quick crash course in Quail. Lol! I know I need to build a pen or make an aviary. If I got a 5x5x4 dog kennel and beefed it up with chicken wire and a sturdy predator proof top, would that work?

No, it is bad enough that you did some voodoo and now I'm working on breaking another broody. They just started laying two months ago.... their eggs aren't even big enough to hatch.
