My jersey giant crosses my friend grabbed from us were laying at 20 weeks.

After having lost two rare pullets to egg binding, I don't encourage early sexual maturity. If they are approaching POL, depending on season, I try to black out their housing early in the day till they are closer to 20 weeks.

I lost my OE to a reproductive issue. I haven’t had many that lay before 20 weeks recently because most of my pullets are from me breeding. I usually do not hatch chicken eggs that have early laying because I don’t want it to be carried on to the offspring.

I may be going back to buy an incubator or two, she has a few disabled Sportsman 1500 series up there. In other news my new Sportsman clone is two days from done.


My existing 82 egg (pink) for reference. The new on is 3'*2'*3' and will hold 264 eggs.

It is hiding the capacity in its depth.

I cannot wait to do this trade. I have to time it right though.
