Has anybody ever used an egg buddy? Came across it for the first time ever today in a incubating group on FB. Supposedly you sit the egg in the device, close it and it will tell you if there is a heart beat or not. Was giving a pulse for dead eggs so it doesn't sound accurate but curious if any hatch-a-holics here have used it or something similar?View attachment 2265394
Does that price tag say 400 something dollars!?

I saw that too, before I even had chickens, and began to think I couldn't afford chickens if I needed all the gear. Then common sense kicked in. 🙄 People and hens have been hatching chicks for a long time without fetal monitors. Totally non-essential and really, non-useful even if they work.

Yeah exactly!! Candling is so much easier and faster! And yeah I used to do the same thing, like buying herbs or special treats or meds or whatever, egg wipes, all this fancy stuff and now they just free range most of the time and if they get a treat, it’s some bird seed leftover from filling the bird feeders or some cheap scratch or BOSS, not the fancy 7 grain organic what have you or the dried mealworm and raisin blends lol they don’t even know the difference ;) heck, sometimes I just toss them some crumbled feed and it’s the best thing in the world 😂🤣

Mine get wild berries that grow right in their run. I never really spent excessive amounts on my chickens. We built them nice coops and fenced in their yard... feed them flock raiser and oyster shells and they’re doing perfectly fine.

My older grow outs think the cheapest yogurt I could find is liquid gold... better than anything else I’ve offered them. the hedemora especially comes running the moment he sees me coming with the dish. Lol. And then of course they wind up wearing a bunch of it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah I never like spent a ton or anything but I would just like occasionally see stuff and be like oh that looks good! Or buy the special kind of scratch instead of the cheap stuff till I realized they don’t care lol the coops though... we’ve built them palaces 😂🤣 we tried to do them cheaply but I’m not sure if we achieved that haha but they had a prefab coop for the first like 2-3 years and it was awful lol

Yes yes it does... basicly whatever you expect to pay for something in the US, you double the price for over here. I was not expecting it to be that much (particulary because person talking about it showed very deceased eggs on candling) but I guess the price explains why more people don't have it... and another too good to be true product...

Oh wow that’s insane!! especially for something that doesn’t even work!!! :th

My 3 dozen shipped eggs are due to arrive today! I'm also getting eggs in my silkie pen again so I'll pop some of those into my small incubator
I have also decided instead of incubating everything at once I'll space them a week apart so next week will be my pure Welsummer and Welsummer cross. and whatever else I decide to throw in
