Hi all. Could you safely transfer day 7 incubated eggs into a different incubator? I have 26 eggs in my 24 egg incubator (holds more as a manual turn) and have a dozen or so eggs I want to incubate but only have 60 egg incubators empty, so was thinking of transferring the 26 into one of those and use the 24 for the 11.

Just make sure the other incubator is set up first. I switch incubators sometimes and I’ve never had issues. You just need to be quick, smooth, and efficient when doing it.

17th day here with my shipped Light Sussex eggs, and from the 20 only 12 are now possible hatch candidates. The others either never developed or died along the way. Anyway, with all the variables that go with shipping, i think 12 eggs is not a bad number, even if not every egg hatches, at least I have a better chance at getting some chicks for my money and effort. I also have a contingency plan in the other incubator, also due in August, the more the merrier...ok I admit, I am an addict. :lau

Question for the more experienced hatchers. I had my incubator temp fluctuating between 98.5 to 100.4. I read somewhere here that it shouldn't go below 99.5. I've now have it bouncing between 99.1 to 101.1. Is it better to run high/low temp on the high side or on the lower end. I have a Hova-Bator 1602 with a fan.

I’d find a happy medium. Being low or too high isn’t good. I run my bator at 100.5 and have had great success with it. It’s not too hot and not too cold and leave wiggle room.
