Two weeks out from October, time for another hatch-a-long! Although most hatching in October are probably aiming hatches for the halloween HAL, this is for the other 30 days

I have 8 silver apple yard, and 10 pekin duck eggs set to hatch on the 1st. I have 2 mystery (I have an inkling they belong to the cayuga but maybe a pekin decided to tint her eggs randomly?) Set to hatch the 10th. There will be more added soon

I set my October batch yesterday. I hope it works! Set 24 eggs, and we will see who develops.

Meanwhile, I have some 1-week olds to keep me company.

I have 24 eggs in for an October 3rd hatch which is our German Unity Day! so they'll be holiday chiclets. 21 Light Sussex eggs that were shipped to me, and three are from my backyard mix, because leaving three spaces free makes no chicken math sense..lol

Just got 6 Salmon Faverolle Bantam, 2 LF Salmon Faverolle, and 4 Buff Orpington Bantam eggs in the mail today. They are in great shape! Barely a jiggly air cell! I will be setting them tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the big day. I promised myself that I wouldn't candle until the 10th day. The shipped eggs were in a poor state and I am hoping, by keeping my hands off them, it might have helped. It is the first time that I am afraid to candle eggs, due to the disappointment I am expecting, but we will see.

How are all of your eggs getting on?

I keep collecting eggs to add . But thats because I found true cayuga eggs now. Unsure what my other coloured eggs are still but we will see! I feel you with that candlinv anxiety. Had that during last hatch of shipped chicken eggs. Box wasn't marked fragile or anything. Eggs were stored on an upside down, side angle (aircell settled there in 3 days they had to sit at post office, no early pick up allowed here) was a nightmare to open. One lone chick that developed, grew, and hatched. The rest went rotten in 10 days

Only two of my shipped eggs are developing, so a real bummer. The post did a great job at destroying them this time, but at least my own eggs are looking great. I have now put the turner on and hope for the best.
