First four babies are out ^-^
Yellowish baby is Faverolles X Silkie
Silvery baby in the back is Paint and Silkie X Gold Spangled Hamburg
Black baby is Silkie X Gold Spangled Hamburg
Silvery baby in the front is Lavender Araucana X Silkie and Im not sure if it is paint or lavender or both?. It can't be blue (unless my Aracuana is blue/lav and none of her babies so far passed on blue) but it COULD be lavender IF my roo carries it. And seeing as I got him from someone else who had raised him up and then discovered he was a boy, its possible. I don't know his breeder.

Also its so fun to see the variation in these crosses, even from the same pair! That yellow baby has the exact same parents as these two from the last clutch.

As well as being a full sibling to this chick my broody hatched

One pair can make so much variation ^-^

Can I ask how old do chicks have to be to tell if girls or boys?
Is there certain things to look for

Depends on breeds. Some can be sexed day one, others a little older, some not until they start crowing or laying XD

I dont have silkie hens yet so all my chicks are silkie crosses, so can't sex them in the same way

Hatched Today! These babies are from my Barred Rock Roo and 2 eggs from my splash ameracauna hen, 1 from my easter egger hen, 1 from my BR hen and 2 from my gold/silver laced Wyandottes.

Hello All,

If only one hatches, should I find another chick to keep it company?

My first clutch... looks like only one may be viable... tossed 3, 2 more were questionable and one for sure has developed and moves. I have another clutch set to hatch a week later with 4 hopefuls. So it would be lonely for a week...
