We have very stringent agricultural quarantine rules in NZ. If the breed is not already in the country it is cost prohibited to import eggs/animals.

Ohhh…that makes sense. Are there many similar breeds to what’s available in the states?

So a lot of them are common to the US. Ginny is sitting on 5 eggs now (down from 8) a couple of Wyandotte eggs and a Rhode Island Red egg. She also has an Orpington (blue/black/splash) and a Sussex egg. Incidently, we've just been out to do a final candle of the eggs and took out the two we were worried about (a lavender orpington and a Wyandotte).
