Hey everyone! So I’m counting down to February 20th, when my new chicks arrive (so excited!!). To make the wait more fun, I made myself a daily activity list — and I thought it would be even better if we all did it together here on BYC! 🎉

Each day there’s a little chicken-related activity — sometimes it’s prepping, sometimes it’s learning, and sometimes it’s just for fun. I’ll be posting what I do each day, and I’d love for you all to join in, share pics, or tell me how your activity went!

Today’s activity:

Brainstorm 5–10 potential names for your new chicks.

Tomorrow’s activity:

Give your chickens a special treat and record reactions.

So, who’s in? 🙌 Let’s make the countdown to chick day something fun we can all share together. 🐥

please join in the fun its kind of boring doing all of these activities by myself

I'll join in!! Except, I am not getting new chicks unfortunately so I will not be able to participate in the first activity.

I'm not getting any new chickens and I have plenty of animals to feed already BUT I am willing to fantasize getting a couple of imaginary baby boy chickies since some of them are so gorgeous but I live in the city so I will never be able to get any IRL.

(whoo - was that really just one sentence?)

My imaginary boy babies (you are getting babies right?) chicken clutch will number 4 to match my girl chickens. Most of these are taken from pictures on my thread City Slicker visits County Fair where I saw so many colorful and fascinating looking birds in person.

#1- Serama, whom I shall name Little Man because he's just so gosh darn tiny and cute. He will ride on my shoulder as I do my chores.

#2 - This fella - and I'm sure someone will know what breed he is - who will be known as Corn Flake

#3 - the next he-chick will grow up to look like this Plymouth Rock. Because a piano has more white than black keys, his moniker will be Steinway. Anyone know what SCCLB is?

#4 - Because these are so amusing, my last baby rooster will be a Polish. He will be just as feisty and adorable as the one at the fairgrounds. I will name him after one of my favorite Poles of my lifetime, Lech Walesa.

Honorable mention to the one I would've named Caramel who is gorgeous but he was making sure every other roo knew he was ready to fight for top spot in the pecking order the entire time I was there. I cannot have that much Testosterone-driven drama here at Peaceful Acres.

i laughed at that funny city people dont normally fanatisize about having roosters but they are just as calm as hens

So what kind of chickens are you getting? And why are you waiting until February? And am I missing some posts? I only see the one activity here.
