It isn't very deep -- just the first layer or so of skin. Doesn't hurt.

I was sewing. I couldn't see my other hand. Needle went pokie-poke, and I temporarily sewed my finger to my mask by the first layer of skin.
It happens sometimes. I just yank my finger and tear the thread out.

I once or twice tried to see how long a piece that I could get under there without breaking or hurting.

Also, don't worry SBF -- it doesn't hurt at all when it's this close to the surface.
