🦆 The DUX has woken up! 🦆

Violeta was so vicious, she almost knocked all the eggs to the floor! So cute that she is sharing with Buffzilla. And Brød is stomping around like she owns the place. Gosh, you will be overrun with ducklings soon enough!! ❤️
Edit: I also have a sweet, broody bird, but she will not be staying broody.

Why not?

Negotiations with the Sunshine Corporation are promising: Today there was a chance for a test-run of their new incubator model »Sunny« on my patio:

So far she is sitting on four eggs, but not fully committed yet.

How’s it going with the broody birds?
Don't ask! - A complete duckling desaster!
There are already four dead ducklings. The same problem as last year, they sit on their eggs, defend the nests viciously, but have no clue what these little peeping things are. They let them snuggle but that's it. I found two ducklings dead in the duck house, trampled. I rescued two other ducklings, sacrificing limbs, but they died in less than a day, most likely they had already been injured.
Buffzilla abandoned her nest, so i checked the remaining eggs and gave the good ones to Milka, who is still sitting.
Duckling #12 also abandoned her nest which was taken over by Smøre.
Tweedledee still viciously defends her nest and shares duty with Brød.
Darkbill and Minni have joined their nests and sit now on top of each other.
And the CCI became dyslexic too, but unlike @Supercow 's incubator which was keepintg the eggs a tad too cool, the CCI went the other way. It showed 37.7° when the control thermometer reported 42.2°. Surely high enough for the four rescue eggs to be cooked.

The only good news is that all the initial issues with the model »Sunny« from the »Sunshine« corporation have been solved. Sunny is sitting on her seven (?) eggs day and night, only taking one or two breaks to do what broody ducks do during their breaks.

And i have five rescue ducklings: Between one and two weeks old, their mommy was taken by a masked bandit, who came back and took the sixth duckling, so i was asked if i could give them a safe(r) home. So they share the patio now with Sunny and Harry.
But not all is bright: One of the ducklings has developed, what looks like an egg pouch in its rump. It is asymmetric and looks squishy. I will investigate later and post pictures/videos.

My young Muscovy was sitting on 11 eggs to start. Some were promising but they all ended up not making it which I had to fight her for the last two eggs as when I hit them with a rock, they exploded on me. The matter was bright yellow and looked cooked!!! The top of the hen house she picked for a nest got very hot off and on I am sure so it was not a good place to nest. I am fine with it because I did not need any babies, I already have one rescue and that is enough. I only let her sit because she was vicious and wanted to play the part of Mom so badly. She would daily sit in a shallow pan of water and get damp and then return to the nest right away. Everything was done by the book but I think the place she chose was just too hot. I was worried she would cook up in the top of the Chicken house but she made it. They don't all make it but sometimes that's not a terrible thing if we already have 20 like I do.

I am devastated! - I am not able to find an anus on that little duckling and i know what that means… :hit
Already too late today, but i will contact my vet if he
  1. can confirm my - not - finding.
  2. can give me something to put the little guy to sleep when the time comes.
I will look again this evening after they had a bath, maybe use some soap to get the feathers around its butt really wet, but… - I need a drink...

The nice video first: Sunny Sunshine sitting on her nest accepting a bowl of her favorite soup from me:
She and Harry Duckhini have a new favorite food: Pasta!
At the moment they love to eat pasta more than anything else in the world, including cat-food and meal-worms!
Despite being broody, Sunny remains calm and friendly and doesn't lash out to my hand. She enjoys when i massage her bill, but she shows the same crazy behaviour once she's off the nest, including wagging her tail until it almost self-ignites through friction with the air, crazy quacks and yes, the broody-poops… :sick

And now the bittersweet video of the five rescue ducklings:
Are you able to spot the doomed duckling?
the light gray one. 😢
It reminds me of something like water belly. Are you certain about the ‘no anus’ thing? I’m not sure how he could make it this far, if so.
