1-2 year old speckled Sussex has swollen face on one side.

As long as she doesn’t develop any other problems, I’d say it’s just something like a mosquito bite. I don’t think it’s serious, just keep an eye on her.

Are there any bubbles or foam in the swollen eye, sneezing, or rattly breathing? If not, I would continue to watch her. Chickens with mycoplasma may be lethargic or not act like they feel well. Look for any white gunk to form in her eye. Her ear lobe seems swollen also, so check inside the ear for any gunk or drainage.

Pecks to the face, bee sting, or tick bites can cause swelling of the face, com, and ear. The mark could be from that. But MG and coryza respiratory diseases can as well. Usually there are other symptoms though.

Thanks! The one thing is I’m not sure if it’s that serious. We have a lot of wasps out and there is a little bump that could be a sting. But then again what do I know. View attachment 2855847
She might have gotten stung by some insect, which happened to mine when the plums and pears fell off the trees and the chickens stuffed themselves silly.

I would watch if it goes down in a few days, no need for antibiotics at this stage.

Thanks everybody! It’s so helpful to have actual chicken people help out with things like this instead of “oh! It’s swollen? Well give her an ice pack” lol I’ll be checking on her lots today but I can’t tomorrow because I’m going to be somewhere but I can still check on her at least once (duh, I can’t go a WHOLE DAY without seeing my girls) she really seems to be acting normal and healthy so I’m thinking (well, maybe hoping too) it’s just a sting:fl
