1.5 yr old hen with bald butt

We have a chicken who has lost feathers around the neck and from the vent area to all the way down her bottom but not on the undercarriage. This condition has lasted all through the summer. None of the other chickens molted in this fashion and are well feathered. I have not seen any feather picking from the others or by herself. Is this common? What could cause this? Oddly, we named her Gypsy after a 40's stripper because when we got her she was bald back there.

I have had that same thing happen to 12 of my hens, at the feed store they said they were just molting but it has been a few months now and they are just starting to get there feathers back. My girls are eating great and laying plenty of eggs, no mites or other critters in the coop, so I guess that was a very heavy molt. They do look pretty funny, almost like a bad sunburn. Good luck,
