I had chicks hatch in my incu yesterday. I was trying to teach 1 how to drink this morning and when I put it back down, it squatted and pood this mixture of green and blood in it. Could it be coxxi already? How did it get exposed? They have medicated crumbles but so far no one seems interested in eating. They are all running around acting fine. What about the green? I HATE to have to treat for something already. Any ideas?

Are you sure it was blood?? It sounds like a cecal; poo to me .. They will do this when they are stressed , it looks awful and smells horrible but is normal.. I am just wondering if you are thinking green and blood by the typicla light redding brown of the cecal poo...

The green then makes sense. I'm positive its blood. It pooped on a paper towel and you could see it clear as day. I haven't noticed anymore, and it seems fine.I'll just keep an eye out.

My new chicks are a week old and they pooed blood but it was orange?

If it is blood then treat for coccidia with Corid. Are you sure it pooed the blood and that the navel didn't get scraped and bled? I would think coccidia would take a little longer to develope...hummm
