Used a q-tip with warm water & got her eyes to open a little bit. She’s half the size of the others. I gave her some sugar water to help jump start her.Try gently wiping her eyes with a warm wet washcloth.
Where can I find that at?If it gets really bad, you might try some teramyacin (may be spelling that wrong) ointment. We used it on gunky kitten eyes all the time and I used it on my dove’s eye once (so I think it’s safe for birds). Good luck!
You can try a local pet store or farm supply type store. I’m in California and have been having trouble finding it here now. Hopefully you’ll have better luck than me. Looks like they have it at Tractor Supply (and looks like I need to get a subscription for it here in California now - at least I can still get it ).Where can I find that at?
None of my other animals have crusty eyes. None of the other 7 chicks that hatched with her & are with her in the brooder have eye problems. Only her. I’ve been using warm water on a Q-tip to gently wipe her eyes clear. It’s working a little bit. Will try the salt water. Thank you!If any of your pets like your chicks, puppies or even kittens eyes are crusty or their eyes wont open? Warm up some water1 cup or 2 and put in half of teaspoon of salt, mix it well. Then get a white clean rag and tap (dont rub their eyes) 2-3 times and keep wetting the rag or cloth and do this 3-4 times a day and 2-3 days or until it clears. It works well for humans!
