1 girl missing, 2 with serious injuries, 1 sweet girl dead

She was just over last week, so all she had to do was run to the front of the property and come up the driveway. I'm avoiding a conspiracy theory because I don't want to dwell on revenge, and I fear retribution. Our own dog has been a bit of a Houdini before, and though he never hassled their livestock, he has gone over to visit their dogs. I wouldn't want harm to come to our Jack when we're not home.

I am glad you want to keep the situation peaceful Krista, in that case even though the dog owner is responsible the best thing to do is take precautions to prevent this tragedy from happening again. Hopefully your neighbor makes good on his offer to replace the poor birds.

Thank you for all of your continued responses. This is very therapeutic to post and not be the only "Crazy Chicken Lady". Pretty sure some of my FB friends feel that way about me. lol. I do feel that I could end up looking like Granny Clampett, sitting in my rocking chair on the back porch with my shotgun.

Hahaha! I meant crazy in that I talk about them and post pictures so much. The crazy that makes me watch my step on the front porch. Anyone else's birds love to bomb the welcome mat?

Well, we lost one of our injured girls. I found her this morning in the dog crate. Lucky (apt name because she's survived attack before) was standing there nervously clucking at me. B put Joey under the Beauty Berry next to Blue and I place Lucky back with the others. She isn't bleeding and she's up and moving about. Hopefully she'll fare well away from the ants and with a ready supply of food and water.

Krista - a fence without a gate/door is not going to protect anything. As long as all the dog hasto do is walk up the driveway, that's what she'll do- and enjoy chasing all the squeaky toys in your yard. When they don't run away any more she'll just find another one.
Don't trust the neighbor to be vigilant - get yourself a gun and do the right thing by your flock the next time she shows up to play.
It's not like the neighbor hasn't been warned....
