One of my chicks from Ideal came broken, I think it's pelvis wa broken. Is one worth reporting to the hatchery? Or just call it the cost of shipping?

Why do you think its pelvis is broken?

If it were me, I'd probably skip calling the hatchery about it, sounds like a shipping thing...others might say differently though...

Broken or born with issues. It couldn't pull it legs forward. Could barely move them at all and was just flattened in the back. It was getting stomped on by it's sibs and was in obvious distress trying to move so I euthanised it.

Sounds like a good choice.

i would let them know maybe it is not just you having these problems it only takes a few minutes right?

Well...since my birds are pets, I'd probably forget about it and console myself with the rest of the live ones. But if my birds were for utility first and formost (meat or eggs), I'd probably ask for money back.

Hatcheries most times send one or 2 extras to cover any loss...

One of our Cuckoo Maran chicks could barely walk coming out of the shipping box. It died a few hours later, and I reported it and was credited for it. This afternoon, another Cuckoo Maran chicks died. I've also reported it. Whether for pets or for business, it's important to let the hatcheries know so that they can see if there might be a way to improve packing and shipping, at the very least. Plus it's good customer service for them to know and replace or refund.
