1 month old chicks with something on neck!!

All my 1month old chicks have wbat started out looking like an air bubble at the base of the neck now its as wide as there chest.. Ive lost one chick already and it seemed as though the bubble has food in it now.. I know it sounds bad but I cut open the bubble on the dead chick and it was completely packed with food.. Am I overfeeding? Please help all my 1 month olds have it but none of my older ones or my Guineas..

You are not over-feeding. That is the chick's crop where food is stored before moving through the remainder of the GI tract. Some chicks will eat their bedding which can cause impacted crop which can lead to death. If you chicks are getting anything to eat besides their feed, you need to provide chick grit for them to eat. Research chicken anatomy to get a better idea of what to expect. Month old chicks should have food available around the clock.
