1 Peep-peep

Thank you for the warm welcome. Here is a picture of my only live peep-pee. I'm letting Mama raise him. I have 6 more eggs that should hatch around the 20th of this month. I'm hoping to sell them all.

I believe it's a silkie, but I'm not sure. I have half breeds in my flock and how do you tell which chicken laid which egg? I'm suree he's a roo, but maybe not...

I've heard you can use a water soluble marker and mark up the vent, then when the egg comes out it will supposedly catch the color and mark the egg, I've never tried it though. I havre 9 baby silkie's this year and I'm convinced they are all roos too, haha! I hear silkies are super hard to Sex though.

At its age, there is no way to
tell just by looking at it. Silkies can take over 4 months before you can really know the gender. Cute little thing!

I think that after the eggs hatch, they should be removed from the mama.
An example of what I mean is the other hen hatched a baby May 18th. I found him dead May 20, 2018. First I found him by Bok Bwok and her chick, stuck bin a corner. None of the three hens in the coop would help It. I found it again, in the same spot, dead. But this time it wasn't stuck. It either froze to death or something.
Here is Bok Bwok and the only surviving chick who is now 3 weeks old. I thought they crowed at 18 weeks old like the purebred silkies I got in a cat carrier when I first got'em

. I don't know what sex s(he is but want to get rid of it. I just wanted to see the process of how these chickens behave when little ones are hatched.
I believe Bok Bwok is an old bird. She left s(he outside in the run. Yes, the other hens pecked at it. So, I caught it and put it up the run ladder we have to teach it the way back in the coop.
What was BoK Bwok doing outside in the run? Taking a bird bath.
