Yesterday I bought 2 Wyandotte chicks from a lovely man.
He told me they are 6-7 weeks old and he let me pick the ones I thought look most like pullets.
Some were clearly cockerels and some others were looking in between, to me these were the two that looked most like pullets at the time.
The first one is a splash, looks henish to me but let me know what you think.

And this one is a blue lace. However on closer inspection of this one, it's wattles look slightly bigger. Might this one turn into a cockerel? I'm hoping it won't because I've already got plenty of roosters

Both looking like cockerels to me.
Watch that red on the first one. Looking like a tell tale sign of a male.
When mature the sexes pattern look very different. Attached is a pic. You can see the difference. It does take a little age to tell but watch. As you see the females have nice lace on their backs and the males have patches of red. With the cockerels it starts as splotches of color.

Well pic don't seem to show on my phone so IDK.
Just Google splash laced red wyandotte and you should find some that shows what I was referring to.

It's easy to tell when they're older and feathers start to tell the tale. At this age look at the combs as an early indicator, in my experience the redness in the comb has been the early tell for me. Still, they can fool you and you may have to wait and listen for a crow.
