Hello, we're new to backyard chickens and have our first 6 chicks in the brooder. 5 of them are doing great. They are all about 9-10 days old.
Our dominique chick was exhibiting pasty butt early on, we cleaned it multiple times a day. The shape of her vent is a little different from the others, appears to protrude a small bit. We were not sure if this is normal. Also appears she has vent gleet. We've added probiotics to their water. And are now cleaning her vent with a mild dish soap. I now believe that she is not growing as she should. She is still defecating, but the vent issues are not really improving.
Does anyone know if this is something that will heal or grow out of? I'm unsure what to search...physically it does not look like the vent prolapse photos online. But I am now thinking her issues are physical rather than environmental. The other chicks are thriving and their anatomy does not look the same.
