Polish chickie update

This morning while letting the 2 polish babies out, Petra decided I actually was a nice Hooman and flew onto my back while I was bent down to put Leah on the floor. I slowly stood upright and she scrambled up onto my shoulder. Leah decided that my hand was warmer then the floor and opted to stay up also.

So there I was trying to slowly exit through the screen in the feed room with the two of them hanging on for dear life.

Once in the aisle Petra did a controlled flight down to the floor and I lowered Leah down, she also took off.

They are easier to catch now, and have pretty much integrated with Mr P’s group. They are also little speed demons! Zooming up and down the aisle while the Noirans relax and watch them while snuggled into the old bedding on the floor - I guess 4:30am is too early for them!

They are going everywhere now, except the horses’ stalls - they have not gone in with the horses thankfully. It’s bad enough the baby silkies go in Reenie’s stall!!! I chase them out all the time!

Tonight I may let them go out with the main gang; I have been leery about letting them out there as they are still small enough to fit through the poultry net. But I don’t think they will stray far from the barn - yet….

They also have grown - sweet wee chickies.
They sound perfect.

I have a sick chick, hock wobbling and cheeping pitifully. Brought it up to the house for some selenium gel mixed with canned cat food. Had to go catch a friend to sleep with on the porch tonight. I'll cover them with a blanket to help with heat.
Daughter has named it Nini (nee-nee?)

Okay, so who has a favorite chicken at their side right this moment? My time off now is Aero shes a sweet Golden Orpington. I have two. I do this every day with my original tribe, unless I’m off somewheres else.View attachment 4226190
Skyhawks are the best. They get all the jobs done, with a minimum of fuss. And yay for high-wing aircraft!

Back in my learning days, I once ran out of fuel on takeoff, and somehow (after tapping the tachometer dial) thought to switch tanks to the other wing. Started right up! That sweet Cessna 140 didn't want to plant and flip in the lake any more than I did.

Twister update

My beautiful Twister has passed away, she leaves a huge hole behind as she was quite the character, pecking at my leg for attention, and would hop up on my shoulder while I was working in my office.

Have the old girls pass away is sad, but to have a young hen pass on is just very depressing, she was just 2.5 yrs old and it makes me wonder if those leghorn genes had anything to do with it.

Good bye sweetie

Don’t forget Vitamin B for curled toes.
