Some chickens here are real sweepers (Tedi, Shehnai) and the rat-proof treadle feeder works really well, wasn’t hard to train the Bigs on, haven’t trained the Littles yet. The Omlet feeder is surprisingly good at containing feed if it’s not filled to the brim, there’s no spilled feed. The lip is effective.I got rid of rats using a feeder (among other things). Most of mine learned the feeder in a couple of hours. One took a couple of days to be comfortable with it.
What a crazy life she must have surrounded by silkies. Imagine what she will tell her old flock mates when she meets up with them again.

The red sexlink could produce some red leakage around the head/hackle feathers. The Barred chick could be from the barred rock, but the only way to be certain is if it's a cockerel and double barred. All single barred chicks could have gotten Shirley's barring from any of the hens. If one of the chicks is rose combed, then the wyandotte is ma (provided she doesn't have the occasional straight comb: if she's straight combed, then any chick is a possibility).Sir Shirley was a BR x Marans hybrid he was barred and had feathered legs.
Oh darn I forgot to check and see if any of the chicks had feathered legs…
The hens could be Barred Rock, SL Wyandotte, red sexlink, black sexlink, and one with sort of light Columbian markings with spots (splash that white hen).

Its hard to trust 1000 lbs of sweetie. Our 120- lb Rotts could knock me over just wagging their tailess rumpsI never see droppings in there. In the morning I check for those but don’t see any. I leave the trap there, it’s a good location.
Yep 1000lb of brat. No more open door for her. Although to be fair, she is pretty good being loose, she does her business in the stall before coming out in the alleyway. Only thing is she pesters poor Reenie.
I never leave her door open when the chooks are inside though. I do not trust her.
Wow! Makes me a little nervous operating anything over 20 yrs old. My Cherokee was 25 yrs old & rebuilt engine was running but everything was deteriorating mechanically & physically on it. I was original owner, never in an accident, always maintained it & replaced anything that wore out: power windows, windshield, transmission, visors, AC, etc etc. But at 225K miles I really couldn't trust it any more as my primary transportation ~ I had treated it like my baby. Original paint was peeling, automatic doorlocks stopped working, rubber molding deteriorating, door strips falling off, plastic lenses cracking, engine sounded tired, visors torn from sun exposure, etc... more $$$ fixing it than a new car payment... so I finally bit the bullet & treated myself to a new AWD Subaru off the showroom floor!When I was flying (1980’s), all the planes I flew were from the 80’s, with the exception of a 1946 Taylorcraft.
No idea how many hours were on the airframes or engines, though.
