My peahen Polly hatched 6 eggs 2 wks ago. Of the 6, one is a white. Or maybe I should say yellow. Can someone school me on why the split happened, how rare etc? I've been told this is an odd situation.
Also, what age is best to sell them? Suggestion on price.
She is an awesome Momma and has had them roosting in the barn since one week old. Tough lady, she makes them tow the line.
I know it's hard to sex them till they age some, but I've noticed, 3 seem to have darker colored backs the other 2 are lighter. Could be 3 males/2 females or vice versa?

What is the Peacock and what is the hen?(Color?) Yellow colored peachicks can be black shoulders,,One of the parents can be split to black shoulder so getting a b/s chick is possible,or one parent may be split to white and not show any white feathers either,,yet you can get an occassional white peachick

Dad and mom are India Blue. At least that is what I was told when I bought the eggs 3 yrs ago. Anything else I couldn't begin to tell you. I am new to the hatch scene and raising of peafowl. Chickens are my thing. But I got the eggs as a test run and had a broody hen(chicken) hatch and raise them for me. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I wonder if you could post some pictures of mom, dad, and chicks?
The experts here will certainly be able to tell a lot if they can see these guys, and it might help to answer your questions.
(besides the fact that we all like to see pictures!!)

I'm in the boonies here, still on dial up...it would take a lifetime to load them. It's been so long since I've been on the forum I wouldn't begin to know how to do it since the site is so different than before. Thanks for the help anyway.

countrygirl4513,,when you type a reply here all across the top is little icons,,2 to the left of the paperclip is what you use to upload pics from your puter,,now you know,,,resize them smaller so they don't take so long to upload,,,we anxiously await pics now,,hehehe

If the parents are the birds you hatched from my eggs they are split to pied. I get a white every once in awhile. Good for you!
