1 year old allergic to eggs

WOW. Thanks everyone for the great advice. My hubby and I have been talking this over.

She does have a mild case of eczema in a few places. Behind the leg and on her arms.

Thanks again.

Just found out my DD is allergic to fish.

Same hive reaction on her skin and face and neck. Looks the same as when she had eggs, although not as bad. The hives lasted about 15 minutes. Now she's fine as before.

Whats funny is.... Hubby loves to fish and I love chickens.

She is allergic to both.

I'd go that route, too. Allergy testing isn't as bad as it used to be. My allergist combines common allergens into one so that the pokes are reduced GREATLY. For example, cat & dog dander as well as cat & dog saliva are grouped into one. Back in they day that would have been four separate pricks. I barely noticed the little pricks the last time - way better than when they'd do it back in the day as a kid. Another option is blood testing, but it is not as accurate and getting blood from a toddler can be more of a struggle than the little needle pricks.

She may grow out of it eventually, but it depends on the kid. I grew out of my food allergies when I got into my teen years, and developed environmental allergies. (Dust, dander, and a strong reaction to my own histamines.)

One friend of mine thought he was allergic to eggs, poultry, fish, dairy etc because of reactions. Turned out it was "soy" Fish food used at fish farms, dairy ration, poultry feeds are full of it. Got ahold of no soy ration for his own animals and no longer has problems.

It could also be that he is allergic to something in the chicken FEED that is then passed into the eggs. Soy, which is in almost all chicken feeds is a VERY common food allergy. That said, egg white is also a common food allergy for young children.

Skin tests are not accurate for food allergies--they give tons of false positives. Observation, diet charting and an elimination diet followed by very gradual reintroduction fo suspect foods are far more accurate. And definitely do this under a doctor's care.
