update on Blossom. she is still laying an egg every day, but she has not prolapsed again and she is not dripping any fluids however she has diarrhea. I’m still keeping her inside the hospital room. I’m not sure if she’s broody or not half the time when I go to check on her, she’s sitting on the eggs, the other half she’s up against the gate to the other side of the room and guess who’s on the other side of that gate? My two 6 week olds! They have become good friends with Blossom duck now.
But during the day if it’s not Thunderstorms or triple digit temps they spend most of the day outside in the little introduction / integration pen.
Which is in between the ducks and the geese. I told them to choose if they want to live with the ducks or the geese, they chose the duck side, lol.
So this is the sixth day that blossom has been inside since she re-prolapsed. initially after she first prolapsed, she re-prolapsed two days later when I put her back outside. Which is why I am hesitant to put her back outside again.. I’m not giving her any antibiotics, but I have given her some probiotics and vitamins in her water on and off this week. and I’ve been carrying her upstairs to get a little swim time in my bath tub every day.
How many days will she keep laying eggs if she actually is gone broody? Because like I said, I don’t know for sure if she’s going broody or not - sometimes I feel the eggs to see if they’re warm and sometimes they’re warm but sometimes they’re not and she always quack loudly at me and it seems like after five minutes in the bathtub she wants to go back to the nest. But yeah, she still laid an egg every day this week.
I’d really like to let her go back outside, but I’m hesitant
