Hi,
As of last Wednesday our pet Domenecker has been holding up his right foot not putting any weight on it. I looked for anything in his foot but I don’t see anything. I called a veterinarian but felt like I wasn’t being taken serious. His Pooh has been runny & I have had him in the bathtub for the past 2 nights. I have given him PetRX in his water & Nutri-Drench directly into his mouth last night. I’m not sure if the Nutri-Drench helped him but he was standing in the tub this morning eating but all day he has been laying in one spot outside in the sun.

How much does he weigh? How high is his roosting perch from the floor? Has he been vaccinated for Marek's?

He appears to be a brawler from the looks of his comb. Has he lost a fight recently? Are there other roosters that give him a hard time?

What is his diet? Feed type and type of table scraps and treats. How much does he eat per day?

Was his leg swollen at all? He may have serverely sprained it or dislocated something.
I don’t think so, maybe just a little but not really sure. I was told to rub the PetRX on his leg, his comb, under his wing in case he has any respiratory systems. He eats good after he takes the meds but I just don’t know if I am doing all that I can to help him with his leg. I’ve read that it could be a vitamin deficiency.

I haven’t weighed him but I would think 3-4#. His roost is maybe 12-18” off the ground. He has never been vaccinated. We got him & another chick at Easter last year & found out later that they were roosters. We had to get rid of the other rooster which was a Rhode Island Red bc he always jumped on Smokey. I would keep the RIR in a pen & let Smokey roam free. The RIR would jump out of his pen to chase Smokey & fight him. We got Smokey a hen last Wednesday but that is when he seemed to start going down.
I gave him the Flock Raiser crumbles, meal worms & Purina Scratch Grains.
Now, I have been giving him cracked corn, crumbles & the PetRX in his water.
I bought the PetRX & Nutri-Drench this past Saturday at a feed store hoping that would help. I hope it’s ok to give him both.

I mistakenly said that I had put PetRX in his water. I am using Knox-All xxx in Smokey’s water. This morning his Pooh is firm again & he is eating his chopped corn now.

Is he walking now and not holding his leg up? Is he improving?

Are you sure it's PetRX and not Vet RX? PetRX is a prescription pet dispensary. VetRX is a wellness product. I would only give him the Nutri-drench for now.

Have you noticed any green bruising on the leg her favors? That would indicate he hurt the leg.

If the leg doesn't improve, you can try giving him vitamin B complex. (human vitamins). You can also give a chewable 81 grain aspirin twice a day for pain and inflammation.

Photos of the hen?
How long ago did you get rid of the other rooster?
This rooster has been beat up in a fight. Get some photos of his legs and feet.

Work on hydrating him. Offer some feed once he's drinking.
Look him over for any wounds.

The hen you got - does she have any lice/mites, any signs of illness like coughing/sneezing?

He stood in the shower this morning for a little while which was an improvement. I took him outside again (bc it has warmed up) but he sits down. He hasn’t crowed since Saturday morning.
Yes, it is VetRX (sorry, I was mistaken).
You mentioned only giving him Nutri-Drench for now. How many times a day can I give it?
Also, how do I give him aspirin & B complex? Just crumble it up & put it in his mouth? I’ve never done this before.
I haven’t checked his legs today but will. I have 2 people in the house with a stomach virus 😩 thank you for your help

Put one squirt of Nutri-drench in his daily allotment of water. For the pills, simply pry open his beak and shove the pills inside, one at a time. Chickens swallow pills easier than humans. (No teeth needed)
