10-Week-Old Cockerels?

Thanks for the info! We got them from Sand Hill Preservation. We got nine chicks total (four of known breeds and five mystery breeds). We did get two black mystery chicks and the other feathered out much more quickly and has a tiny comb and wattles, so I'm really thinking the black one pictured above is a cockerel.

One of our chicks has had a red comb since 5 weeks and it's still so much redder than the three suspected cockerels.

Behavior-wise, I haven't seen anything lately that screams cockerel about the three. They're all pretty chill. The white one pecks me until I cuddle it.
Definitely a cockerel.. and also definitely not an Ameraucana.. not bearded and I don't think that's a pea comb either.

Glad you had a great experience.

They need to stick with seeds and produce though.
Or maybe just be recognized for what they are.. a hatchery and private money making entity.

Livestock Conservancy is nothing special as far as I can tell either.

I'm leery about making judgements about sex too early based only on the comb/wattles with no other members of the same breed to compare to. :)

If they're male the saddle feathers will show themselves in the next few weeks and then you'll know for sure.

They do all appear to be males, but its never a bad thing to hold onto them for a bit longer to be sure. I'd agree the black male isn't an Ameraucana. Do you have other pictures of him?

We had a great experience with Sand Hill. We've been ordering seeds from them for years. We also live nearby in Iowa and picked the chicks up in person. We're amateur chicken keepers and don't care too much about looks. Obviously, others have had a different experience, but we'd order from them again.

I'm curious as you visited the site in-person. What was the facility like? Were you taken on a tour, or just sat in the driveway while they boxed up your chicks? I was curious yesterday and was doing some Google satellite image searching and was not impressed to say the least...
