10 week old Easter Egger started crowing??

Hi. We are new to backyard chickens and have an easter egger who was trying to crow this morning. We are hoping to only have hens in our coop for various reasons. I am hoping someone can help tell me if we have a hen or roo on our hands.

Next question, if we keep him, can he basically roam the yard and does he need a separate area to sleep in?

I'm new at this too but, I believe it's up to you. How many girls do you have? Can you keep one where you live? Do you have any other Roosters? All things to consider. As far as I know they can all sleep together, that's what my neighbor does. I believe its 1 roo to up to 12 hens but dont quote me. I'm learning too. I know there's a good article on here too, sorry I cant post it from my cell.
