We will not keep an aggressive rooster. We may end up taking both down the road since that's an option for us

Watch for temperament issues, and select carefully. Keep them longer, if possible, so it becomes more apparent.
If you have a small child, and are new to chickens, move them both on sooner. Don't wait for problems or injuries to your toddler!
Next year, have more chicks, and consider keeping a cockerel. Maybe.
This is not a choice left to a child!

Can you post another picture of your Welsummer? I just had two Welsummer roosters that I had to get rid of...it seems that they had a lot more black feathering on their chests at that age, but hard to tell in that pic. The females get salmon colored feathers on their chests.
